Steel Aces is getting ready to roll out of the hangar. On Friday, 30 October 2026, Armative Studios’ tank MMO enters Early Access, a major moment for the team and for everyone who has helped the project reach this point.
For HIBIKI, this launch carries a particular meaning. We first introduced Steel Aces to our readers when its Kickstarter campaign began, and we’ve had the privilege of supporting the team through the work that followed. Along the way, that has meant helping bring structure to ideas, organise the work ahead, share practical learning and prepare for the next challenge.
No development journey is perfectly straight. Plans change, problems appear and teams learn as they go. What matters is the persistence to keep moving, the willingness to learn together and the progress made one step at a time. The team now has the chance to meet its launch with a clearer view of how far it has come, with its community alongside it.

What is Steel Aces?

Steel Aces is a free-to-play tank MMO built around armoured combat, vehicle knowledge and tactical decisions. Its focus is on direct, line-of-sight battles between vehicles, with no player-controlled aircraft or artillery. Positioning, awareness and understanding how your vehicle handles all shape the fight.
The game draws on more than a century of armoured warfare and brings together vehicles from different historical periods. Armative Studios has also spoken about working with museums, historians and people with hands-on knowledge of tanks to help ground the game in real history.
That care for the subject comes from a German-led team of engineers and tank history enthusiasts. Steel Aces reflects the time they have spent working to bring these machines to life and build a game around them.

A milestone built over time

A public launch is a defining step for an independent studio. It brings a game beyond its development circle and gives a wider community the chance to play, respond and help shape what comes next.
Steel Aces has reached this point through development, testing and feedback, including the recent Open Play weekend. Each stage has asked the team to organise, adapt and keep learning. Seeing the game approach Early Access is a chance to recognise that work, not just the date on the calendar.
The vision behind Steel Aces has stayed focused: make tank combat where decisions, vehicle knowledge and tactics fulfil a growth and experience, while keeping competitive play fair. Early Access gives Armative Studios and its players the next opportunity to develop that vision together.
We’re proud to have supported the team from the beginning, through the process and grateful for the trust, collaboration, friendships and persistence that have brought Steel Aces this far. We’re looking forward to seeing the team meet launch day knowing what it has built and how much it has learned along the way.
